Wahibba Sands Adventure dan santai di Wadi Bani Khalid - Part 2

Sur, Sultanate of Oman. 2nd February 2012.

After refuelling our vehicles to the max, we moved out of Sur, following Route 23 via Al-Kamil to Biddiya. The journey to Biddiya roughly took an hour and half. We turned off the Shell station junction - this time no switching off engines - and made our way into Biddiya town, and finally after about 4 km in, reached the END of the ROAD. We stopped in front of the Al-Raha little office.

The convoy stop-over at the end of the "black-top".

Here, we were met a local Bedoiun woman who was selling hand-made souvenirs...

Now...guess which one is the Bedu lady?? :)

After a 15-20 minutes rest, and taking some photos, we moved out into the sands...

A beautiful view of the sand dunes at Wahibba.

The convoy moving into the sands.

Then the adventure really started!!

The Sur boys' car got stuck in the sand....

Fortunately, two locals came to the rescue...and the sling that Marzuqi brought served its purpose...and after some heaving and pushing, the Toyota Land Cruiser was out!

AAR learning - always read the operating manual before operating any equipment or machine..and this includes cars!....4WD on or not?

We moved on after the "stuck-in-the-sand" ordeal, and steadily geared up to about 60 km/h. Dust and sand flying everywhere, passed some Bedoiun huts/camps, a few campers, camels...and finally reach Al-Raha Campsite, which was about 20km into the desert.

Bedoiun huts.

Campers site - they had their own high-powered ATVs for Dune Bashing!

Al-Raha Camp - finally got here!

Another story...macam boleh car No.7 awal datang ni??

Well....two went missing, Hj.Hamzah and Hj.Zulane... Hj.Ismail managed to get hold of Hj.Hamzah, rupanya limpas camp...hehe. Kan ke 1000 Nights Camp kali..

Checking out the rooms.

We parked our cars in the camp, and I met the Camp Boss, Mr.Harry (nope, not European)..must be short-form for a longer Indian name. He gave me the keys.

The group met in the dining hall, nice, but the floor was sand. Someone said, "Inda siap, balum besimen.." hahaha..

With the family heads gathered, bebagi-bagi kunci tah kami.

Next....Part 3, playing in the sand!
